Seed Capital Partners is an early-stage venture fund.
We invest primarily in companies addressing information technology,
communications, and financial services opportunities in the northeastern
U.S., southeastern Canada, and Israel.
We practice "roll-up-the-sleeves" venture capital. We don't
"invest" in companies, we "build" them --and we
build a very select number of companies. This focus allows us to retain
the highest standards for each investment and to add the optimal ongoing
value to our entire portfolio.
We are unequivocally active investors and always take board seats.
However, we do not define active investing as simply showing up every
six weeks to monitor our investment at a board meeting. We continuously
help build early stage companies by recruiting top-tier management and
board members; solving strategic problems; identifying and securing
key channels and partners; defining organizational structure; and raising
additional capital. We will also take interim operating roles when appropriate.
"We are pleased to announce that Datapower Technologies has been
acquired by IBM Corporation in an all cash transaction valued at
more than $100MM on October 14, 2005. Seed Capital Partners II made
the first investment in the company in 2001 and participated in the
follow-on financing in 2003.
“It is gratifying to our
partnership that after 5 years of working with Datapower and the
brilliant and committed executives of the company that the overall
hypothesis is being validated by dozens of Fortune 500 customers as
well as the world’s largest technology company, IBM, with their
acquisition “
